Moon Motor Sales was started in the mid-fifties by Milo Moon Sr.. His main business at that time was selling and servicing Plymouth and DeSoto automobiles, and automotive service in general. Milo's interests went beyond cars though. His fondness for motorcycles found Milo making time to sell, service, and ride them. In the early sixties, he took on the Honda line of motorcycles and eventually would shift his business focus from cars to motorcycles, dropping the Plymouth and DeSoto lines all together. Growth continued throughout the decade, but at the end of 1970 he decided to call it quits, and put his business up for sale.

Upon hearing the news, St. Cloud residents Denton and Marlys Erickson decided to take advantage of the opportinity to own their own business, and packed up the family and moved to Monticello. In 1971, in an effort to expand their customer base, the Erickson's added Stihl chainsaws and Yamaha snowmobiles. In 1977 the store relocated to its highway 25 location, and added BMW motorcycles. In 1990 Polaris snowmobiles and ATVs, along with Yamaha motorcycles and ATVs were added. The exciting addition of Aprilia motorcycles in 2008 brought the business to its present product mix.
